About us

We are an independent family-owned group of nine garden centres, located across Central Scotland. Our centres are packed full of garden inspiration, great gift ideas and tasty treats in our restaurants!

Caulders was founded in 1999 by Colin and Mandy Barrie when they opened a small plant centre in Mugdock Country Park. Caulders have grown steadily and now have nine excellent garden centres and eight restaurants. Caulders employ an dedicated team of over 300 staff, who aim to deliver the best in both garden retail and catering.

Learn about the History of Caulders

Husband and wife, Colin and Mandy Barrie established the business by opening their first garden centre in Mugdock Country Park, with only 2 part-time staff members.

The Garden Centre at Mugdock was expanded by adding a Gift Shop!

The Caulders family grew when Caulders Kirkintilloch was opened!

A Restaurant was built at Caulders Kirkintilloch, seating 120 people!

A 120 seater Restaurant was added to Caulders Mugdock.

Colin and Mandy opened a new, purpose-built garden centre in Newton Mearns, along with a 150-seater Restaurant..

Kirkintilloch Gift Shop area was extended, adding more space to shop!

The largest of the four centres, Caulders Erskine opened in November 2014.

We added a new purpose-built covered area to our Mugdock Centre and extended the Gift Shop.

Cupar Garden Centre is welcomed to the Caulders family!

Our brand-new, custom-built Restaurant opened at Cupar in March 2018 and is loved by staff and customers alike!

We added a beautiful conservatory area to our Erskine Restaurant to make the most of the views!

We introduced two new additions to the family! Caulders Kinross & Caulders Cumbernauld!

To create a more enjoyable shopping experience, we extended the Cumbernauld plant area! More space means more plant options!

At Caulders Newton Mearns, we renovated the Restaurant, giving it a more homely, traditional feel.

Before we opened the doors, we renovated the restaurant at Loch Lomond. We are sure you will have noticed the difference!

Our Cumbernauld Centre can house more visitors than ever as we extended our indoor and outdoor seating!

We took advantage of the winter lockdown and refurbished the Kinross Garden Centre! Now with a brand new entrance and revamped indoor area.

We added a new purpose-built in-house Bakery to our Kirkintilloch centre, this supplies all the delicious treats to all our Restaurants!

Caulders family grew again, this time down at Dumfries with Caulders Hetland!

Hetland Restaurant got a refurbishment, loved by the team and customers! We spent a lot of 2022 ‘Caulderising’ Hetland, as it is important to us all our centres are of a high standard!

We started the year off by doing lots of work at Cumbernauld extending our Gift Shop, Plant area and Restaurant, and also upgrading the outside seating area!

Loch Lomond Gift shop got refurbished, and looks brilliant!

We decided that Erskine Restaurant needed a makeover, completely upgrading everything to match our other Restaurants!

We added solar panels to our Cumbernauld site. This reduces our Carbon footprint by over 11 Tonnes of C02 each year - equal to C02 absorbed by 509 Trees
